Our giant, inflatable days are consistently among the most talked about activities at Holiday Club, and when we ask children what they'd like more of, “bouncing” is always top of the list.
Mention a super slide, obstacle course or bounce zone and the excitement is palpable.
Whether it's a bouncy castle at a birthday party, inflatable basketball game at a family event or a dinosaur themed assault course at Holiday Club, children of all ages seem drawn to them. And once they're on, good luck convincing them it's time to leave.
In fact, they’ve been so popular we’ve just launched our
Family Inflatable Days in Stockport this summer – more on that below…
So what is it about inflatables that children love so much?
Every Bounce Feels Different
Unlike many toys, there isn't a "right" way to play on an inflatable.
Children can bounce, climb, crawl, race, slide, challenge their friends or simply throw themselves around and see what happens.
The experience changes every time they use it.
One minute they're attempting to beat their personal best on an obstacle course. The next they're laughing as they tumble into a giant inflatable barrier or racing to the top of a slide before anyone else.
That freedom to experiment and play on their own terms is a big part of the appeal.
They Feel Like An Adventure
The super-sized nature of inflatables give children something many of them crave: challenge.
- Can I climb to the top?
- Can I make it across without falling?
- Can I beat my friend?
- Can I do it faster this time?
It's the kind of risk children naturally seek out, but in a safe and controlled environment.
Every obstacle conquered, ladder climbed or slide completed gives children a little boost of confidence and a sense of achievement. Those small moments matter.
They're Secretly Brilliant Exercise
Don't tell the children, but all that bouncing, climbing and running around is doing them a world of good.
Inflatables help develop:
- Balance
- Coordination
- Agility
- Core strength
- Spatial awareness
And because children are having so much fun, they don't even realise they're being active.
In a world where screens compete for attention more than ever, finding activities that naturally encourage movement feels increasingly important.
The Happiness Factor
Have you ever noticed how happy children seem after a day of active play?
There's a reason for that.
Running, jumping, climbing and laughing all help boost mood and wellbeing. Add in fresh air, freedom to play and a healthy dose of excitement, and you've got a recipe for a very happy child.
It's also one of the reasons many parents report the same thing after a day packed with activity:
"They slept brilliantly."
We're not making any promises, of course... but we're not saying it doesn't happen.
Inflatables Are Here to Stay
At Practically Family, inflatables have become a bit of a tradition.
Whether it's the giant Helter Skelter making an appearance during May Dayz, a spooky Haunted Castle during Octoberfest or the legendary 100ft Assault Course arriving for Summerstock, children know that somewhere during the holidays there will be an opportunity to bounce, climb, slide and conquer.
And judging by the excitement they generate every single time, we don't see that changing any time soon.
Can't Get Enough? Join Us for Family Inflatable Days
If your child is the sort who would happily spend all day bouncing, climbing and racing through obstacle courses, we've got good news.
This summer we're launching
Family Inflatable Days at
Greenbank Preparatory School in Cheadle Hulme.
Open to all families with children aged up to 14 years, each
two-hour session features multiple inflatables to explore, including giant slides, obstacle courses, bouncy castles and more.
It's everything children love about inflatable days at Holiday Club, but with the whole family invited along too.
Grab a picnic and blanket and settle onto the grass for old school fun on the field. There will also be an ice cream van and even a classic school tuck shop for some pocket money treats – keeping the energy level high!
You can kick back and watch or join us for some family-fun games. Anyone for a World Cup inspired kids vs parents football match?? And, if another heat-wave strikes, watch out for the water balloons…
Sessions are running across weekends throughout the summer holidays and places can be booked now.
We have a feeling they're going to be very popular...
