They’re part of the Crew
All of our children are grouped into colour Crews - BLUE, YELLOW, ORANGE and GREEN - and yes, sometimes we mix things up into BLORANGE and GRELLOW when holidays are shorter.
When you book, you’ll get to choose your crew colour - then it’s time to dive into the team spirit and join in with activities alongside children of all ages. It’s a brilliant way to make new friends, feel part of something, and enjoy being one of the gang.
While we plan the day to suit each age and stage, we don’t separate children off - we support them in joining in, while gently adapting the experience to make sure it works just right for them.
For Our Youngest Clubbers (EYFS Children)
Children aged 3-4 are part of everything we do - but we also recognise they sometimes need a slightly different rhythm to their day. Our approach is fully in line with the EYFS Statutory Framework, and we’ve designed our experience to be both inclusive and age-appropriate.
Here’s how we support our youngest Clubbers:
They Choose Their Crew
EYFS children still pick their colour crew (when booking) and join in with their group. They’re very much part of the gang - and take part in all sorts of activities with older children. We just keep a close eye on energy levels, confidence and concentration to make sure they’re happy and thriving.
They Have Exclusive Access to The Den
Our EYFS children have their own special indoor space, The Den. It’s a calm, cosy base for:
- Keeping their belongings safe and easy to access
- Age-appropriate Circle Time sessions
- Free play with thoughtfully set-up resources
- Resting, regrouping, or even having a little nap
- Easy access to drinks, toilets and quiet space
- A place to take as long as they need for lunch
This space is available to them all day long, giving them the option to pause, process, and take things at their own pace.
We Plan Around Them
Transitions, timing, group activities - we flex our day to suit the children in front of us. Each day, we consider how our youngest Clubbers are feeling, and we adapt plans to meet their needs. Sometimes that means joining in with big Crew activities. Other times it might mean staying back for extra story time or sensory play.
We Get to Know Them First
Before they even arrive, families fill in a child profile document, telling us all about their child’s interests, routines, and what makes them tick. It helps us prepare, personalise, and welcome them in with open arms.
Gold Bands for Very Important Little People (VILPs)
To help our youngest Clubbers feel seen, supported, and safe during their day, we’ve created a system that makes sure they always have an extra helping hand when needed.
All children in the Early Years age group wear a special gold wristband - a little visual reminder that they’re one of our VILPs (Very Important Little People!). It means our team can easily spot who might need a little extra help during transitions or group games.
Our Promise to You
At Practically Family Holiday Club, your child isn’t just dropped into a group - they’re welcomed into a community. Whether they’re 3 or 4, sporty or creative, shy or full of beans, we create a space where they can be themselves, try new things, and go home with a head full of stories.
