When you’re choosing a Holiday Club, you’re not just looking for somewhere to cover childcare.
You’re asking yourself:
- Will my child feel safe here?
- Will they be happy?
- Will they be known and cared for?
That’s why, at Practically Family Holiday Club, the things you see on our walls really matter.
They’re not there to impress.
They’re there to reassure you, involve your child, and show exactly how we do things - day in, day out.
Here’s what they mean for you and your family.
The Parent Board: So You Know Exactly Who’s Looking After Your Child
This is usually the first board you’ll notice - often in the playground at drop-off or pick-up.
As a parent, this board is there for
you.
It answers the practical questions straight away:
- Who’s running the club this week?
- Who are the Crew members your child is with?
- Who are the First Aiders and Safeguarding Leads?
- How can you contact us if you need to?
- Are we Ofsted registered and insured?
That familiarity matters. It helps your child recognise the adults around them, and it gives you confidence that everything is transparent, organised and accountable.
Our Voice, Our Choice: Because Your Child’s Voice Matters
This is the board children gravitate towards - and that’s no accident.
Our
‘Our Voice, Our Choice’ board is where your child gets to take part in shaping their Holiday Club experience.
They vote on activities.
They share ideas.
They answer daily questions.
They tell us what they enjoyed - and what they’d love to do next.
As a parent, this means your child isn’t just being entertained - they’re being listened to.
They learn that:
- Their opinions matter
- They can make choices
- They’re part of a community, not just attending a club
It builds confidence, communication skills and a real sense of belonging - all through simple, everyday moments.
New: The WOW Wall - Celebrating the Moments That Matter
One of our favourite additions is our
WOW Wall.
This is where we - Crew and Clubbers together - celebrate the little and big moments that make up a great day:
- Trying something new
- Being kind to a friend
- Feeling proud of a piece of work
- A moment of bravery or confidence
- Something that made us laugh
Your child might add a drawing.
A Crew member might add a note.
Sometimes it’s a photo or a simple message.
It’s not about rewards or competition.
It’s about noticing effort, kindness and growth.
As a parent, it gives you something really special - a window into the moments that matter to your child, even when you’re not there to see them.
The Early Years Board: The Thinking You Don’t See
If you have a child under 5, there’s something important happening behind the scenes that you may never actually see - and that’s intentional.
The Early Years Board is displayed in our under-5s area, but it isn’t designed for children or parents to read. It’s there for our Crew.
Its role is to keep our team focused on early years best practice and to continually challenge them to build meaningful, age-appropriate learning into play.
The board anchors our Crew in the EYFS framework and encourages reflection around:
- Communication and language development
- Emotional wellbeing and regulation
- How skills emerge through play
- Supporting each child as an individual
There are no lessons, no worksheets and no pressure on children to “perform”.
What this means for you as a parent is simple: your child gets to play, explore and have fun - while being supported by a team who deeply understand early development and are intentionally nurturing it in ways that feel invisible, calm and completely child-led.
It’s the kind of thinking you don’t see on the walls - but you see it in your child’s confidence, curiosity and happiness.
Why This Matters When You’re Choosing a Holiday Club
These boards aren’t just something to display - they reflect how we work.
They show you that:
- Safety and transparency come first
- Play is purposeful and child-led
- Your child’s voice is valued
- Effort, kindness and confidence are celebrated
- We think carefully about how children experience their day, not just what they do
Because when you drop your child off, you want to know they’re not just safe - they’re happy, confident and exactly where they should be.
And that’s what sets Practically Family Holiday Club apart.
