From our epic birthday bash to storytelling magic, heartfelt moments, and Pokémon quests, it’s been a February to remember. Here’s a look back at all the fun we had!
POD’s 3rd Birthday Bash
We kicked off the month with a party like no other - because turning 3 is a pretty big deal! With face painting, a disco, and mountains of cake, we celebrated in true POD style. The dance floor was full of little groovers, and we even spotted some hidden talents among our team—who knew we had such face-painting pros and dancefloor legends in our midst?! WE DID!!
A Month of Stories & Celebrations
Black History Month
February gave us plenty of reasons to celebrate, but also to reflect and learn. As part of Black History Month, we talked about Martin Luther King Jr., Rosa Parks, Nelson Mandela, and other incredible change-makers who shaped history.
National Storytelling Week
There’s no better way to kick-start imaginations than with a great story, and National Storytelling Week had us fully immersed in books! With the help of our hot air balloon library, we explored fairy tales, real-life heroes, mythical creatures, and wild adventures!
Children’s Mental Health Week
We spent time talking about how we feel, how we can help our friends, and the little things that make a big difference. From our Preschool Feelings Board to extra cuddles and kind words, this week reminded us that kindness and connection matter every day!
We also spoke about how different situations can make us feel different emotions and what we can do when we feel worried. Our Worry Monsters were on hand to help—because posting our worries to them means they get eaten up for breakfast!
Valentine’s Day
The love was well and truly in the air as our PODders thought about all the special people in their lives and why they mean so much. There were love potions, plenty of crafts, and a few surprises - so if you received a handmade masterpiece, we hope it made your day!
Random Acts of Kindness Day
One of our favourite things about POD? Kindness is part of everything we do! But for Random Acts of Kindness Day, we made an extra effort to spread joy - whether it was sharing, helping a friend, or simply making someone smile. Because little acts of kindness make the biggest difference!
National Pokémon Day
We ended the month with Pokémon fun, led by our very own Pokémon master, James! We hunted for hidden Pokémon, learned some impressive Pokédex facts, and even put our Pokémon knowledge to the test! If your little trainer came home full of fun facts, you know who to thank!
Preschool Jungle Adventures
It’s been a wild time in Preschool this month as our little explorers have been learning all about jungle animals! They’ve been getting crafty, colouring, sticking, gluing, and using their imaginations to bring the jungle to life!
Handprint Lions – After reading
Look After Us, a lovely book about jungle animals, our Preschoolers traced their hands, added manes, and carefully drew faces on their lions all by themselves!
Jungle Masks – After colouring their own jungle animal masks, we played an exciting game of charades, where everyone had a turn acting out different jungle creatures. There were some very convincing monkeys, tigers, and elephants on the loose!
But the biggest adventure? WOW Week! Our Preschoolers went head-to-head in ‘I’m a Preschooler, Get Me Outta Here!’, splitting into Team Dingo Den and Boomerang Burrow to complete five challenges and earn stars!
Animal Encounter – Meeting spiders, bugs, and even dragons!
Eating Challenge – Tasting
bug brains (a.k.a. Rice Krispies in jelly!)
Star Hunt – A race against the clock to find hidden stars!
Sensory Challenge – Guessing sounds, smells, and textures—blindfolded!
Preschool Cyclone – Dodging critters and obstacles in a playground race!
Which team took home the crown? You’ll have to ask our little adventurers! One thing’s for sure—they all took on the jungle with fearless energy!
Mark Making Magic
This month, we also explored and practiced mark making—a huge step in early writing and creativity! Whether it was free drawing, copying simple patterns, or experimenting with different materials, our PODders had so much fun making their mark!
We used:
Pencil and paper for patterns and shapes
Sand, flour, and icing to create sensory marks
Different grips and strokes to build fine motor skills
Every squiggle, swirl, and shape helps build confidence for future writing—and we
loved seeing our little artists experiment!
As we head into March, we’re ready for even more fun, learning, and laughter! Keep an eye on Tapestry and our socials to see what’s coming up next!
